Information Technology (IT) is now a part of almost every business. It is used for a variety of tasks, some concerned with the actual direct running of the activities the business is engaged in, and - more commonly - with the administrative and office tasks involved in all organisations. Organisations that use IT effectively have access to better information - and have access to it faster. They can also share it amongst different parts of the organisation so that everyone is working with the same information. Businesses that use IT strategically are also able to take advantage of opportunities that arise as a result of technological developments.
